• Street Art in Istanbul

The street art is present everywhere in Istanbul. In some areas many streets are completely covered with graffiti. This is the case, for example, of the Galata district, attracting many artists.

In May 2015, the French artist JR is working on 15 buildings in Istanbul, a city seen as a link between Europe and Asia, not far from recent conflict zones. For his project 'The Wrinkles of the City'.
JR portrays older people who lived through the transformation of their city - including the secularization of Istanbul after 1924 - and expanding their faces to highlight the changes in the architecture of many parts of the city. The collages can be discovered in the districts of Balat Halac, Eminonu, Beyoglu.

Here are some photos I've taken of his portraits during my walks in Istanbul.

The street art is also particularly present in the district where I live, Kadikoy. Many gigantic murals can be seen.

Every year, a street art festival is held during which artists over the world come meet and decorate Istanbul's walls.

Here is a photo that I took of one of my favorite murals in Kadikoy.
